Public relations practitioners live and work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. In this exciting, never-a-dull-moment profession, students need to possess exceptional writing skills; understand how to write for different audiences; be able to think creatively and strategically; have experience in photography, design, web design, and video production; have ability to create and nurture relationships with traditional media, social media, and business networks; and appreciate public affairs and social and environmental responsibility. The Department of Communication offers students the essential tools needed to be successful in this growing field, including opportunities to engage in a variety of professional activities as part of their regular coursework. Opportunities for students exist in our state-of-the art student media facilities, and in working with exceptional faculty mentors.
