Dr. Chris Beaty

Chris Beaty joined the faculty at Eastern New Mexico University in August, 2000. He directs the Jazz Studies Program and teaches applied saxophone. He also teaches courses for non-music majors including Jazz History, Music Appreciation and Music Reading. Upon his arrival, Dr. Beaty formed the Faculty Jazz Players and instituted an annual Jazz Fest on the Eastern Campus.

He is involved with the North American Saxophone Alliance and the International Association of Jazz Educators. Throughout our region, Dr. Beaty is known for his performances in both the classical and jazz mediums.

In addition to his heavy performing and teaching schedule, he a frequent clinician and adjudicator. Dr. Beaty is a native of Sacramento, Kentucky. He holds the Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from Austin Peay State University, the Master of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Memphis.
